Transportation from Anchorage to Kenai is available by either air flight or auto. There are limited car rental options in Kenai, so most people opt to fly into Anchorage for the beautiful drive and abundance of rental options.

A thirty-minute commuter flight will have you at the Kenai Airport, where car rentals are available, or you can enjoy a spectacular three-hour drive along Cook Inlet, through the Chugach Mountain Range, and along the upper Kenai River.

If you drive from Anchorage the map is below. Whichever route you take we HIGHLY recommend you book your rental vehicle and flights as early as possible to get the best deal. Rental cars can be one of the biggest expenses of an Alaska adventure and guests who wait until a month or two before their trips are often surprised by the limited availability at that juncture. Also, if you’re booking your flights out of the state and want to know how much time you should plan for departure, we recommend leaving the lodge no later than 3.5 hours before you want to be at the airport. With construction and traffic in the summer, that means leaving 5.5 hours before your flight departs to give you two hours at the airport to return your rental car. You can always grab a snack in Anchorage if you get there too early, it’s not easy to re-book out of Anchorage if you get there too late.
