These are the latest Regulations and Emergency Orders from the Alaska Department of Fish & Game that affect our client fishing areas in 2025.

We will continue to update this as we learn more. For the 2025 season for halibut fishing we will be honoring our current pricing and covering any additional fees associated with daily halibut fishing as is currently proposed by International Pacific Halibut Commision below. We will have more details on these “halibut stamps” prior to the season.

In 2025, halibut fishing for area 3A (southcentral waters including Seward, Homer, Whittier, and Valdez) will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This includes charter vessels.

Explanation

  • The International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC) has established new halibut regulations for 2025.
  • In Area 3A, the daily bag limit is two halibut, with one of them less than 27 inches.
  • If you only catch one halibut per day, it can be any length.

Other Alaska halibut regulations:

  • A Halibut Stamp will be required, similar to a King Salmon Stamp or a Duck Stamp.
  • The stamps will cost $20 for one day, $40 for three days, and $60 for seven days
